When Tim Holt was asked to move to Virginia for work, he balked.
“That was really the last thing I wanted to do,” said Holt, 44, who has lived in Butler County for almost his entire life.
Holt, whose background is in financial analysis and accounting, was able to persuade his employer, FCi Federal, to open an office in Butler.
He’s one of six employees at the government contracting firm’s Butler office, which opened this year.
Founded in 1991, the government contracting firm based in Ashburn, Va., has more than 2,000 employees. It is privately held and posted $107 million in sales last year.
“We did a search of the area. We liked Butler. We liked the background of people and the community’s work ethic,” said the company’s chief strategy officer, Ronda Cox.
The company provides professional, administrative and technical services to federal agencies. Its biggest client is U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, for which it prepares immigration applications and pre-hearing documents.
