This briefing covers active market intelligence, regulatory guidelines, and tactical capture recommendations for federal and defense contractors pursuing opportunities in this procurement classification.
Government contracting can be very rewarding, and opportunities are everywhere.
That was the message of Steve Griffin, senior vice president of Vencore, at a meeting Thursday hosted by Forward Sheridan.
The relationship between Vencore and L&H Industrial, which subcontracted with the larger company to upgrade one of NASA’s two crawler transporters, was one of two case studies presented at the meeting. L&H is a company that started in Gillette and now includes facilities in Sheridan.
Also spotlighted at Friday’s meeting was Vacutech, a Sheridan company that subcontracted with Vestas on a windfarm project, and Kennon Products, which is the recent recipient of a Small Business Innovative Research grant.
Griffin said In fiscal year 2017, NASA alone paid over $16.7 million to contractors, and over $2.7 million of that went to small businesses. And NASA is just one federal agency that contracts with private businesses, he said.
Griffin said direct contracts from governmental agencies can typically be found through a website called fedbizops.com.
In addition to Griffin, speakers at the day-long meeting included State Treasurer Mark Gordon; Shawn Reese, who’s CEO of the Wyoming Business Council; and Mike Wandler, CEO of L&H Industrial.
Representatives of Vacutech, Kennon Products and a professor from the University of Wyoming also were among the speakers. Jay Stender, CEO of Forward Sheridan served as moderator.
